Jeremiah 29:11. Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster,to give you a future and a hope.

Dont call me a high class nanny

When I was embarking my journey as an educator (still groping my way) wanting to carve a career in the education field, the most prominent comment that I received is that " HUh? Are you out of your mind? Are you insane? " But what hurts me the most was from one figure that i deeply respected , " Can you snap out of your dreamy state? Do you know that how lowly is this job is? Being a child care teacher is just simply like a high class nanny. It is about bread and butter in the realistic society of Singapore. Do you know that the children are so spolit? They are naughty and mischevious, what makes you so sure that you can withstand that?" I was so upset and tears started to well at my eyes.

If I never try , I never know. All I know is that I got to experience it. I went for a couple of interviews at different day care centres. Very interesting and intriguing experiences. What an eye opener. To be brutally honest, the pay is really pathetic. But I cast that monetary issue out of my mind. There is a trade off between realising dreams and working for the sake of just working. When I went for this particular child care centre for interview, I accepted the one month "testing of the water". They were honest with me and laid the cards on the table. Pretty straightforward, I liked that.

However, there was a slight bump to my career path. With enthusiasm, I emailed them for finer details of my working conditions. They did not respond at all. I was despondent and depressed for the remaining week. Finally, I did not want to further wallow in many questions laden atmosphere, I called them up. Alas, they didnt have my number in the headquarters, so they sort of waiting for me to call back.

Anyway, the path of an educator is long, windy, ardous and if you dont have certain will power, determination, support from true friends, especially God's invisible hands carving my path, I will never have started it all. I simply resigned to so called "fate" and continue to weep and whine and complain. Even though this child care teacher might not be the path for me, or it could be, at least I am walking....
